Employment Support Worker-Newmarket

Location/Lieu:  Newmarket, ON

Position/Poste: Employment Support Worker (Full Time)


The Employment Support Worker works as part of the Vocational Rehabilitation Team to provide a variety of employment supports to consumers in work trials and employment, including but not limited to:
  • Instruct the Job Search Training workshop/program including resume creation and cover letters
  • Assist the vocational team assess motivation based on participation in the job search training program
  • Adjust the workshop material and training methods based on client needs
  • Work with MODC Employment Service team to provide regular client updates
  • Provide one to one support to participant with preparing for interviews, completing job applications
  • Identify need for workplace supports; develop support solutions and service plan 
  • Provide one on one job coaching at place of employment as needed
  • Documenting workplace activities objectively 
  • Employer relations – receive employer feedback regarding consumer’s performance and MODC services
  • Identify suitable job opportunities in the local labour market
  • Complete case notes

Qualifications/Compétences requises:  
  • Degree in social services or equivalent from a Community College/University or equivalent; general business knowledge. A Certificate in Adult Education is also an asset
  • One year experience in vocational rehabilitation work with persons who have physical disabilities  
  • Experience teaching and coaching adults
  • A varied employment history with experience in several occupations is also an asset
  • Valid Ontario driver's license
  • Excellent organizational, written and verbal skills, basic computer skills
  • Sensitivity to needs of employers, referral sources
