Senior Accountant-Oakville


Location/Lieu: Oakville, ON
Position/Poste:  Senior Accountant - Non-Profit Housing Corporation
Duties/Fonctions: 
  • Responsible for the integrity and accuracy of all Non-Profit Housing Corporation transactions
  • Ensure comprehensive and timely treatment of all monthly journal entries
  • Generate accurate monthly financial reports package, including variance analysis report
  • Review and post all Non-Profit Housing Corporation entries
  • Prepare and reconcile rent schedules for all properties 
  • Prepare cash flow for all properties, including the updating of the cash flow forecasting module by property each month 
  • Perform bank reconciliations for all properties
  • Reconcile all general ledger accounts for Non-Profit Housing Corporation including current capital construction projects, cash flow and financial statements
  • Reconcile all general ledger account reconciliations for Non-Profit Housing Corporation.
  • Prepare various Canada Revenue Agency and other stakeholder reports 
  • Provide accurate and timely management information to the property manager for all properties
  • Maintain fix assets cards as needed, including additions and disposals.
  • Prepare for and assist in year-end audit process
  • Assist in budget and forecast worksheets/inputs
  • Assist in variance analysis for Budget and Forecast
  • Other ad-hoc finance and accounting projects for Non-Profit Housing Corporation and March of Dimes Canada.
Qualifications/Compétences requises:
  • University Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Canadian CPA designation (CA, CGA or CMA) 
  • 3 to 5 years of progressive accounting experience
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in a not-for-profit or property management environment preferred
  • Bank reconciliation experience a must
  • Experience using ERP software. Navision experience is preferred
  •    Advanced computer skills particularly in Excel (advanced data management and financial functions)
  • Strong written and oral communication abilities
  • Ability to undertake detailed financial analysis to identify key business issues and innovative solutions
  • Ability to gather, analyze and interpret financial data in order to make strategic business recommendations
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks in a demanding work environment
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and high transaction environment
  • Understands and embraces the concept of accountability to deliver results
  • Excellent client service skills with an aptitude to understand the business and maintain strong client relationships
