March of Dimes Canada is here for you Vancouver!

Tell us your story and win a customized ​accessible tablet package that includes a tablet, case, stylus and specialized apps to improve your community access and participation.


March of Dimes Canada will help Vancouver area residents this winter with physical disabilities to enhance their community access and participation through the Assistive Mobile Technology Initiative by providing customized tablet packages (a tablet, a stylus and a cover/case), for up to 8 residents in the Vancouver area. The tablet prize package will also include a pre-paid credit card to purchase/install appropriate apps to meet their needs, for a total value of up to $1,875.   

Tell us your story and win a customized tablet with apps for communication, daily living and increased independence! The goal is to share how technology assists people to increase their independence and quality of life, enhance their ability to interact or communicate with others in the community or control electronic devices in their homes.

The project will help successful applicants achieve one or more of the following:

  • Increase access to services
  • Explore or control the environment
  • Contribute to their ability to take on new leisure pursuits
  • Contribute to improving their education
  • Assist in their employment objectives
  • Assist in communication, verbal and written

Vancouver AMTI Tablet Giveaway


Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for the Vancouver tablet package giveaway, contestants must:​
  1. Be a permanent Canadian resident and the person must make his / her permanent and principal home in the Vancouver area;
  2. Be 18 years of age or over;
  3. Be a person with a permanent disability that impacts his or her ability to fully engage in activities in daily living;
  4. Explain how he or she will benefit from having a tablet in achieving a desired goal;
  5. Be of financial need. In order to be eligible for funding, the combined gross income of applicant and spouse (where applicable) cannot exceed $45,000 after allowable deductions are considered; 
  6. Be working with an Occupational Therapist and/or Speech Language Pathologist who can provide a current assessment of the applicant’s needs and support them in installing required software applications; and  
  7. Be available for the presentation of the tablet at the annual Rock for Dimes Vancouver fundraiser to be held on February 23, 2017 (location to be announced in early January 2017), in Vancouver, British Columbia.

The tablet packages will be presented to the selected recipients at March of Dimes Canada’s annual Rock for Dimes Vancouver fundraiser on February 23, 2017 (location to be announced in early January 2017). ​



Calgary AMTI Tablet Giveaway


APPLICATION DEADLINE for CALGARY was EXTENDED to January 29, 2017.​

To be eligible for the Calgary tablet package giveaway, contestants must:​

  2. Be 18 years of age or over;

  4. Explain how he or she will benefit from having a tablet in achieving a desired goal;

Assistive Mobile Techno​​​​logy Initiative Past Winners

March of Dimes Canada was there for residents in Nova Scotia, Montreal, Vancouver and Calgary, presenting customized tablets with specialized software/apps to improve community access and participation!


March of Dimes Canada have already helped residents with physical disabilities in the Nova Scotia, Montreal, greater Vancouver area and Calgary enhance their community access and participation through the Assistive Mobile Technology Initiative by providing customized tablets, such as iPads and Galaxy tablets, to 5-10 residents in each location. The tablets included appropriate software or apps customized to meet the needs for each person, along with someone to teach them how to use the software. 

The successful c​andidates were awarded a tablet with customized software / apps valued up to $2,500 based on​ their individual needs, for a total of $15,000 per event location. The tablets were presented to selected recipients at March of Dimes Canada's annual Rock for Dimes fundraisers in their area.​
