Celebrating Independence at the Ability & Beyond Gala
The charity’s annual Ability and Beyond Gala, presented by TD Bank Group will feature a stirring
talk from special guest speaker Bob Woodruff
On Thursday, May 19th guests at the TD sponsored Ability & Beyond Gala to benefit March of Dimes Canada, will have the chance to be inspired by ABC News Correspondent Bob Woodruff. The dinner is taking place at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel.
The evening will be hosted by Global Toronto anchor Leslie Roberts. Acclaimed violinist Adrian Anantawan will provide entertainment, along with Jennifer Valentyne, who will close out the night with a jazz standards set.
Ability & Beyond Gala 2011 will be celebrating independence and 60 years of March of Dimes Canada. The special guest speaker will be Mr. Bob Woodruff. An ABC News Anchor, Mr. Woodruff was injured by a roadside bomb in Iraq. He will speak of how he overcame the challenges of his traumatic brain injury against seemingly insurmountable odds. Guests will leave the event having learned what can be achieved with determination, strength and hope.
All proceeds support March of Dimes’ programs and services for children and adults with disabilities.
The Gala will also include a silent auction. Attendees will be able to bid on exciting trips, golf packages, sports memorabilia, home appliances among many other exciting items. As in past years, jeweller Louis Louro has created a gorgeous one-of-a-kind necklace. Guests will have the chance to take home the stunning piece of jewellery.
The evening’s co-chairs are Shoppers Home Health Care President Paul Damiani and his wife Rosie, and the Canadian Assistive Devices Association President Bill Laidlaw and his wife Sarah. Former Prime Minister, The Right Honourable Paul Martin, will be in attendance and speaking at the Patron’s Reception. Mr. Martin is the Honorary Gala Chair.
