Recognizing a Special Partner – the Rexall Foundation
Since 2011, the Rexall Foundation has committed over $50,000 in support of March of Dimes Canada’s Conductive Education® program.
Conductive Education® (CE) operates from a core belief in neuroplasticity and on the premise that individuals can learn and improve when they are given the necessary tools and education. CE views problems of movement as problems of learning and works to develop movement, speech and cognitive abilities simultaneously – not separately or consecutively. Conductors, or specially trained instructors, work with program participants to help them gain, or regain, physical mobility and self-sufficiency one small step at a time. CE operates on the belief that all participants can learn and improve when they are motivated.
Rexall is committed to enhancing the health and well-being of Canadians in the communities where their stores are located. Rexall will be there to help improve patient outcomes by providing patients and customers with a more complete and personalized health experience. But it goes beyond helping lead healthy lifestyles.
The Rexall Foundation is one of the ways they give back as a company and since 2002, the Foundation has been helping build strong and vibrant communities by supporting numerous charitable organizations. Whether it’s a community or children’s hospital or a disease prevention organization, the Rexall Foundation values the role it plays in helping the delivery of numerous programs and services in Canada.
The Rexall Foundation is especially proud of the contributions made, and the work done, to help some of Canada’s most courageous children. The Rexall Foundation has given hundreds of children with an illness or disability the chance to be a kid by sending them to camp. Whether its cancer, diabetes, a facial difference or a mental illness, children deserve the chance to forget about their illness, even if it’s just for a week.
But the Foundation does more than raise and donate money. It’s a partnership between their corporate and store staff, vendors and customers. Rexall’s family includes some of the most caring, dedicated and passionate people in Canada and members of the Rexall team can often be found lending their support to worthwhile causes in the communities they call home.
“Conductive Education® is an excellent program that provides people with a physical disability the opportunity to be more independent and confident, as well as more active in their community. More importantly, Conductive Education gives a child the opportunity to just be a kid, which is exactly the type of program the Rexall Foundation is excited to support,” says Brian McLaughlin, President of the Rexall Foundation.
March of Dimes Canada wishes to express its gratitude and appreciation to the Rexall Foundation for its generous support of our Conductive Education program. They are truly making a difference in the lives of children and adults living with neuro-motor disabilities.
