David Mackenzie Logan, Ph. D.
1937 - January 17, 2017
David Mackenzie Logan, Ph. D., former Board Chair of March of Dimes Canada, and of March of Dimes Canada Non Profit Housing Corporation, passed away very suddenly on January 17, 2017 in his 80th year. The news was a shock to friends and family, and the family of March of Dimes extends sincerest condolences to his beloved wife Susan (and companion for over 60 years) and his three children, Richard, Michael, and Heather and their families. David was a remarkable man, a true polymath, “a person whose expertise spans a significant number of different subject areas,” and he continued to learn and expand his knowledge throughout his life.
For over 35 years David served on the board of directors of March of Dimes (originally the Ontario March of Dimes) and was voted a lifetime seat on the board and then made Director Emeritus, assuring that he would continue to contribute to the vision and service of this agency. He was a champion for the rights of people with disabilities and one of the greatest supports to management and staff, serving on many committees, chairing Research, Community Development, Fundraising, Finance and more, and always bringing his unique humour, dedication, loving perspective and incredible intellect to the situation.
Respecting David's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will be held at a later date.
