L.I.F.E. - Learning Independence for Future Employment

The L.I.F.E. program is available in Toronto, Ontario.  It is geared specifically towards teaching young adults ages 18 to 45 the skills required to achieve independence. The program provides participants with a learning environment to expand their social and professional skills while practicing the daily responsibilities of adulthood.

Most young adults face challenges as they move into adult life, but young adults with disabilities also face unique physical challenges. These challenges present physical and social barriers to participation in their home, school, work and community.

L.I.F.E. offers in-class and community-based learning activities, which focuses on the needs of each individual and their personal goals.

Topics covered:

  • Financial Literacy – Participants practice using a personal budget and learn about various money saving options.
  • Relationships – Explore how to maintain healthy professional and personal relationships through effective communication skills.
  • Goal Setting – Introduction to manageable tasks and time management strategies.  Life instructors work one on one to help everyone establish a personal agenda to pursue their dreams.
  • Employment Preparation – Focusing on self-awareness and identifying strengths, skills and talents that match a job and how to present these skills in a positive manner.
