Door-to-Door Captains and Canvassers
The Door-to-Door Campaign continues the tradition of the Marching Mothers®, started in 1951, when dedicated volunteers went door to door in their neighbourhoods collecting donations for the March of Dimes.
Now every January, money collected by canvassers helps us continue our tradition of providing essential programs and services to people with physical disabilities.
For Canvassers
Canvassing is a great way to meet new neighbours, catch up with old neighbours, and help a good cause at the same time. Canvassers are asked to canvass approximately 20 - 25 homes in their immediate neighbourhoods.
See the guide for Canvassers
For Captains
Each of the 2,000 area captains needed are asked to commit about 10 hours of time in total. Captains oversee an average of 18 - 25 canvassers, and take responsibility for distributing canvassing kits by the first week of December, and collecting them, along with donations, when the campaign is over. Most importantly though, captains provide support and encouragement to all their canvassers throughout the month of January.
