On Wednesday, February 6th, 2008, in spite of a raging blizzard, London’s finest amateur musicians shook The Ceeps to battle for the title of best corporate band at the second annual Rock for Kids London. In addition to the concert, there was a host of other activities including a live auction, all benefiting our Conductive Education® program in London.
Duty Calls emerged victorious in an extremely close contest, winning out over The Covergirls. Telus Mobility band incident 11 was forced to drop out of the contest due to inclement weather, but their presence was felt throughout the night.
We once again had three terrific judges – London Chief of Police Chief Murray Faulkner, Transglobe’s BJ Santavy and Telus Mobility’s Jim Lacey.
All proceeds benefit March of Dimes Canada’s Conductive Education® (CE) program. CE is an innovative program that blends elements of education and rehabilitation to improve the independence, mobility and confidence of children with disabilities, and has been especially beneficial to children with cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis and developmental apraxia.
“Our Conductive Education program is one of the largest of its kind in Canada and we serve hundreds of children and adults. Our program helps people build self-confidence and self-esteem, giving participants new independence, hope and pride,” said Mary Lynne Stewart, Director of Fund Development and Communications, who was also the host for the evening. Special thanks to the bands, judges, sponsors, the many people who attended the event, and the gracious volunteers.
