Acknowledging Contributions

March of Dimes is pleased to acknowledge companies and individuals throughout Canada whose contributions make a difference in the lives of those with disabilities. March of Dimes offers several different annual awards that celebrate those who serve the organization and their communities by meeting the needs of children and adults with disabilities.

Jonas Salk

The Jonas Salk Award, presented annually, acknowledges a Canadian scientist, physician or researcher who has made a new and outstanding contribution in science or medicine to prevent, alleviate or eliminate a physical disability.

Medical research was one of the original goals of Ontario March of Dimes, which was founded in 1951, with a mandate to fund research to prevent polio. March of Dimes gives an annual fellowship in partnership with the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) in tribute to the late Paul Martin Sr.

Awards

March of Dimes is proud to present 11 awards honouring those who are making Canada a better place for people living with disabilities.  Eight awards are named in memory of very special people who have made a difference to our organization.  An additional 3 awards are named after services or programs that have improved the quality of life for many Canadians.
