March of Dimes is at the Home Show

National Home Show | February 19-28, 2010 Direct Energy Center, Exhibition Place | www.nationalhomeshow.com | Presented by REMAX

Accessible is Beautiful

Your home should be your sanctuary. But for many people as they age, or acquire a disability, their house can become an obstacle course that they need to navigate everyday – and for some, impossible to live in. The good news is that with the help of barrier-free design, a home can be modified to once again be a safe haven. Experts from March of Dimes Canada and Therapist’s Choice Medical Supplies will provide a dynamic presentation that demonstrates that age and physical disability need not prevent maintaining independence in your home. Visit booth #1305 for even more practical tips to making your home accessible.

Our Barrier-Free Design Consultants provide design expertise in accommodating the needs of people with disabilities during the development or redesign of their house. Home accessibility doesn’t need to mean expensive renovations. There are a variety of ways a home can be modified, from the simplest change of a round doorknob to a lever style handle, to more permanent modifications of grab bars, chair lifts and home security installations. While many people fear that making such adjustments will make their home look institutional, or like a hospital, the opposite is true. Our experts will show that Barrier-Free design means only removing the obstacles that impede comfortable living. March of Dimes will demonstrate that a home can be accessible and beautiful.

Barrier Free experts Lonnie McInnes of March of Dimes Canada and John Compton of Therapist’s Choice Medical Supplies will be presenting on the main stage the following three dates and times:

Tuesday, February 23rd – 1:30pm

Wednesday, February 24th – 1:30pm

Sunday, February 28th – 12:00pm
