Reach your potential while helping others achieve theirs
If you have self-discipline, patience, care and empathy, Conductive Education® may be for you.

Being a Conductor can be physically, intellectually and emotionally demanding. It can also provide you with the personal satisfaction of knowing that you are helping to transform people’s lives.

Conductor Training
Conductor training is a three-year program that earns a BA (Hons) Conductive Education® with a Qualified Conductor Status (QCS) — a certification requirement of all Conductors. The intensive course is comprised of six semesters, with students working and learning within conductive groups at the National Institute of Conductive Education® (NICE).

Weekly practical training complements theoretical study, and practice sessions are combined with individual feedback, tutorials and lectures. Students also complete a dissertation in their final year.

Qualified and experienced Conductors, both British and Hungarian, provide the practical and academic curriculum.

The Transamerica Life Canada Conductive Education® Award provides recipients with $10,000 annually throughout the three-year program. This covers approximately two-thirds of tuition fees.

Working as a Conductor
Working as an accredited Conductor is an enriching experience. It provides opportunities to help people with motor disabilities across their life spans. Conductors work with both adults and children in an open classroom environment, helping participants break down tasks into small, achievable steps.

The job is hands-on, but also requires consulting, planning, setting up, and writing reports. Conductors frequently collaborate with other professionals to ensure the continuity of participants’ development. They may provide outreach services and promote the profession in their communities.

Career Opportunities
The Conductive Education® profession is currently in high demand -- interest in Conductive Education® has expanded across North America, continental Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and Israel.

Upon completion of the two-year, post-graduate commitment to Ontario March of Dimes, award recipients are free to explore other placement options. As an award recipient, student Conductors are required to fulfill a paid placement in a Conductive Education® summer program in Canada. This provides excellent opportunities for Canadian students to return home and gain valuable work experience.

Award Requirements
All award applicants must be a Canadian resident or citizen. In addition, they must be either graduating from, or already a graduate of, a recognized high school program, OR either currently enrolled in, or already a graduate of, a recognized college or university program.

Applicants must complete a one-page essay explaining their interest in becoming a Conductor. References and transcripts will be required.

Applicants are encouraged to apply to the University of Wolverhampton concurrently with the award application. Awards will be decided upon confirmation of acceptance to the university.
