We provide partial funding through the Assistive Devices Program to more than 1,400 people a year for the purchase and maintenance of equipment such as:

• Manual & power wheelchairs
• Scooters
• Home and bath aids
• Personal aids
• Seating inserts & wheelchair cushions
• Walking aids
• Portable patient lifts
• Lifting equipment
• Threshold ramps
• AFO's, KAFO's and knee braces that are Ministry of Health authorized
• Orthopaedic Footwear required to accommodate a Ministry of Health funded orthosis
• Electronic controls, ECU's and face to face communication devices
• Repairs

Larger devices such as ceiling track lift systems, automatic door openers and stair glide systems are funded through the Home & Vehicle Modification Program.

The program does not fund equipment such as:

• Installation costs
• Foot orthotics
• Hearing & vision aids
• Urinary, ostomy & colostomy supplies
• Artificial limbs, or cosmetic prostheses
• Specialized recreational / leisure devices
• Hospital beds and mattresses or other alternatives for sleeping
• Devices for prevention and treatment purposes (eg. TENS machines, exercise equipment
• Computers
• Home Renovations
• Vehicle Modifications
• Portable Ramps

We also work with our clients to connect them with other funding sources, as well as available government and community services.
