We provide partial funding through the Assistive Devices Program to more than 1,400 people a year for the purchase and maintenance of equipment such as:
- Manual & power wheelchairs
- Scooters
- Home and bath aids
- Personal aids
- Seating inserts & wheelchair cushions
- Walking aids
- Portable patient lifts
- Lifting equipment
- Threshold ramps
- AFO's, KAFO's and knee braces that are Ministry of Health authorized
- Orthopaedic Footwear required to accommodate a Ministry of Health funded orthosis
- Electronic controls, ECU's and face to face communication devices
- Repairs
Larger devices such as ceiling track lift systems, automatic door openers and stair glide systems are funded through the Home & Vehicle Modification Program.
The program does not fund equipment such as:
- Installation costs
- Foot orthotics
- Hearing & vision aids
- Urinary, ostomy & colostomy supplies
- Artificial limbs, or cosmetic prostheses
- Specialized recreational / leisure devices
- Hospital beds and mattresses or other alternatives for sleeping
- Devices for prevention and treatment purposes (eg. TENS machines, exercise equipment
- Computers
- Home Renovations
- Vehicle Modifications
- Portable Ramps
We also work with our clients to connect them with other funding sources, as well as available government and community services.
