March of Dimes Canada promotes independence for adults with physical disabilities throughout Ontario. One of the many ways we achieve this is through our Summer Holiday Program. Since 1972, the Provincial Recreation Department has operated a residential holiday program for adults with physical disabilities from a site on Lake Couchiching, Orillia, Ontario.
We are seeking a number of enthusiastic and responsible individuals for the following position to live on site and assist adults with physical disabilities to each enjoy a 6-day stay, weekly sessions at the Summer Holiday Program in Orillia from June to August. This includes provision of attendant care services and programming.
Duties / Fonctions:
Duties include assisting holidayers with recreational programming and self-directed activities of daily living, including dressing, bathing and feeding.
Staff work six days with a maximum of a four hour break each day of the session. A break of at least two days is scheduled between each session. Sessions begin in June and run until the end of August.
Qualifications / Compétences requises:
- Enrolled in R.N. or R.P.N. program, or related health sciences program
- Must be able to live onsite for 6 consecutive days for all sessions from June to end of Aug 2018.
- Ability to help Head Nurse with basic nursing care and management of medications/treatments.
- Demonstrated maturity, dependability, and responsibility
- Recreation or camping experience, and/or previous experience working with adults with physical disabilities an asset.
- Current First Aid Certificate and CPR Required
