March of Dimes to have booth at “How Time Flies” An Evening with William Shatner
Trixstar Productions (www.trixstar.com), in cooperation with Behind The Icon (www.behindtheicon.net) is pleased to present Canadian film and television icon, William Shatner’s cross-Canada tour “How Time Flies” An Evening With William Shatner on Wednesday, October 19th at The Centre in Vancouver for Performing Arts in Vancouver, BC. March of Dimes will be present at the show to raise awareness of its programs and services for children and adults with disabilities.
Since 2006, William Shatner has been the Spokesperson of March of Dimes Canada. He has filmed popular public service announcements, recorded radio ads and voice broadcasts and supported various fundraising efforts.
2011 marks the 60th Anniversary of March of Dimes in Canada. Since the beginning, March of Dimes has been on the forefront of the disability movement in Canada. What began as a march to stamp out polio has grown into a multi-service organization that provides One Stop: Opportunities for Independence for children and adults with disabilities. March of Dimes offers a variety of important programs and services to over 50,000 people across the country each year: programs like Conductive Education®, which helps improve mobility and self-confidence, recreation and social opportunities, employment supports, funding for assistive devices and home and vehicle modification, support for polio and stroke survivors, their loved ones and healthcare professionals, advocacy and more.
With support from Trixstar Productions, the Reason PR and Mr. Shatner, March of Dimes will have a booth at the Vancouver, Winnipeg, Toronto and Montreal shows to help raise awareness of both its special relationship with Mr. Shatner and its essential programs and services for children and adults with disabilities.
“We are so appreciative of Trixstar Productions, the Reason PR and of course Mr. Shatner for providing us this fantastic opportunity to partner with them on the Behind The Icon tour,” says Mary Lynne Stewart, Director of Fund Development and Communications for March of Dimes Canada. “Being at these shows will certainly increase awareness of our critical programs and services – and allow us to offer them to even more Canadians living with disabilities who could really benefit from them,” she continues.
March of Dimes Canada recently opened an office in Vancouver to expand its services to more people living on the West Coast.
