Toronto’s Big Battle of the Corporate Bands
Members of Toronto’s corporate community play "Rock Star" to raise money for a great cause.
For the seventh straight year, Toronto’s top business executives are trading in their suit and ties for ripped jeans and guitars at the Rock for Dimes fundraiser.
On Thursday, May 12th six bands featuring groups comprised of Toronto business professionals will shake 6 Degrees Nightclub to raise an estimated $25,000 for children with physical disabilities.
The bands will compete for bragging rights as Toronto’s best corporate band, at the same time showcasing their talents to music industry professionals. John "Flairboy" Garbutt and Harrison Mercer from Q107 will be the emcees, while Daryn Barry, owner of the Orange Record Label, Live Nation Coordinator Rob Stevenson, producer, musician and artist rep Andy Curran have been tapped as the evening’s judges.
Oui B. Jamon, Trading Hearts, Hung Jury, Earth Shine, The Flying Hamentashens and The Gavelheads will do battle at the event.
All proceeds benefit March of Dimes Canada’s Conductive Education® (CE) program. CE is an innovative program that blends elements of education and rehabilitation to improve the independence, mobility and confidence of children with disabilities, and has been especially beneficial to children with cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis and developmental apraxia.
"Our Conductive Education program is one of the largest of its kind in the world and we serve hundreds of children and adults. Our program helps children build self-confidence and self-esteem," says Mary Lynne Stewart, Director of Fund Development and Communications.
The event is sponsored by Tory's LLP, Gowlings, AMG Medical Supplies, ReliAble Independent Living Services, MES Hyrbid Document Services, Dave Gillespie Photography, 6 Degrees Nightclub and media sponsor Q107.
Doors will open at 7:00pm on Thursday, May 12th at 6 Degrees Nightclub located at 2335 Yonge St. The event is open to the public. Tickets are $25 per person. For more information or to order tickets online visit www.rockfordimes.ca/toronto or call 416-425-3463 ext. 7380.
