Six bands will shake The Roxy Vancouver on Thursday, February 24th to raise an estimated $20,000 for families living with disabilities.
BIG BACK YARD, the Howard Mickelson Blues Experience, Krunch!, Fat Cobra, Standard of Hair and The Ringtones will compete for bragging rights, at the same time showcasing their talents to music industry professionals.
On board as judges are former Payola$ lead singer Paul Hyde, 54-40 star Dave Genn, music producers Randy Staub and Jeff Dawson and Vancouver Sun rock critic Francois Marchand. Kieran Wilkie, from media sponsor 96.9 Jack FM will be the evening’s host.
All proceeds benefit March of Dimes Canada’s programs for children and adults with disabilities.
“We couldn’t be more excited about once again staging Rock for Dimes in Vancouver,” says Mary Lynne Stewart, Director of Fund Development and Communications for March of Dimes Canada. “The Vancouver community is so supportive, and I am confident that this event will allow us to offer our Stroke Recovery Canada program to even more people in Vancouver.”
Business in Vancouver, Dollar Tree, Gowlings and AMG Medical Supplies are the corporate sponsors and 96.9 Jack FM is the media sponsor. Vogville Recording Studio has donated ten hours of recording time to the winning band.
This is the fifth time that Rock for Dimes has been held in Vancouver, and it is part of a series of fundraisers that are held across Canada, including stops in Halifax, Calgary, London, Montreal and an upcoming appearance in Toronto.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 24th at the Roxy Vancouver, located at 932 Granville Street. The event is open to the public. Tickets are $25 per person.
