Open House In Orillia for Stroke Survivors and Caregivers

Survive and Thrive after a stroke!
• Orillia-area stroke survivors and caregivers are invited to an open house about community resources and a stroke support group

On Thursday, March 1st, 2012 Stroke Recovery Canada®, a program of March of Dimes Canada will be holding an open house at 10am – 12pm.

Stroke Recovery Canada is hoping to start a new support group for Orillia-area stroke survivors and caregivers.  Interested guests are invited to Helping Hands Orillia at 210 Memorial Avenue, Unit 126B, to learn about March of Dimes Canada programs - and Stroke Recovery Canada® in particular, which provides the benefits of peer support for a successful, on-going stroke recovery.

The event is being spearheaded by local stroke survivors who are hoping to reach out to others in the community, so that they might learn and help each other in their stroke recovery journey.

“The group becomes like a family,” says Donna Mackay, Associate Director of National and Provincial Programs for March of Dimes Canada.  “Our members tell us that peer support is a key component of their recovery process,” she continues.

Parking is free.  For more information, please contact Sarah Balsas by e-mailing or by calling 1-800-263-3463 ext. 7738.
