Dropping the puck for a great cause!
• Second Annual Thorold BIA Charity Road Hockey Challenge and Family Street Fest to raise money for March of Dimes Canada’s programs and services for children and adults with disabilities
On Sunday, June 10th, part of Front Street in Thorold will be transformed into makeshift road hockey rinks. With support from the Thorold BIA, from 10am – 5pm, Front Street will be host to a family street fest in addition to the road hockey challenge.
Based on an event founded in Toronto by March of Dimes’ Special Events Manager, Linda Yielding, teams fundraise to compete in a friendly road hockey tournament. Each team is guaranteed a minimum of three games. The teams will be comprised of local businesses and corporations.
“We’re really excited to hold this fun event again in the Niagara Region, where we have a large number of programs, supporters and friends,” says Mary Lynne Stewart, Director of Fund Development and Communications for March of Dimes Canada.
"We’re growing on the success of last year’s event and invite everybody in the community to come out and watch some great hockey for a great cause," she continues.
