We Got Blues
Local blues musicians to raise money for a great cause.
On October 20th, Stonewalls Restaurant and Sports Lounge will be transformed into a Blues Lounge in support of March of Dimes Canada’s Independent Living program for people living with disabilities.
A number of local greats, including the feature band We Got Blues, along with Social Animals, Sonny Del Rio, Astrid Young, guest MC Larry Smith amongst more will provide the evening’s entertainment.
"I put together the band, We Got Blues just over a year ago. The band was handpicked from the best of the best in the city. Not just musicians, but human beings. Blues is about the Human Condition, and I needed to make sure that would be the focus," says Chris Labonville, who formed the band We Got Blues and is organizing the event.
“Almost immediately, the band wanted to follow suit with my beliefs, and give back to the community. Our Sound Manager and a songwriter for the band depends on March of Dimes to live on his own. Thanks to that, we are all better off. March of Dimes was a natural choice, especially raising money to help with the Independent Living program here in Hamilton. Things are always better when we work together,” he continues.
"Having Cerebral Palsy all my life, I have had to overcome several barriers. The biggest barrier was moving out on my own. March of Dimes has helped me live independently for more than eighteen years. Because of my independence, I was able to follow my dream of being songwriter/producer! That dream is now a reality! I am an active member in the band We Got Blues! This upcoming benefit will not ONLY raise money for March of Dimes, but the event will showcase my band, and some of my friends I have met through music!" says Fred Eirich, member of We Got Blues.
The event will start at 9pm at Stonewalls Restaurant and Sports Lounge, located at 393 York Street. The event is open to the public. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door and can be purchased at Stonewalls or Boon’s House. To arrange for tickets please feel free to call Chris directly at 289-237-4833.
