It's tax season – Get expert advice and support people living with disabilities.
From April 22- 30, 2013, 27 participating Liberty Tax locations in Brantford, Burlington, Hamilton and the Niagara area will be making a $2 donation to March of Dimes Canada for every tax return they prepare. People still needing to file their returns can receive expert tax counsel while at the same time support people living with disabilities in their community.
On Monday, April 22 at 11:00 a.m., there will be a kick-off to the week-long campaign at the 19 King St. East location in Hamilton, Ontario. Guests are welcome to join.
Liberty Tax is a long-time supporter of March of Dimes, hiring staff through its Employment Services program. In 2012, Michael Horst of Liberty Tax was the recipient of March of Dimes' Vocational Rehabilitation Award, given to a business, organization, or agency making an outstanding contribution to the vocational rehabilitation and employment of adults with physical disabilities.
Liberty Tax opened their doors to provide many March of Dimes clients with the opportunity to develop work skills and gain references, to help with future permanent employment. Michael denied no interested candidate the opportunity to work for Liberty Tax and even hired three more employees than he needed, to accommodate for those who were unable to work a full-time schedule.
“Liberty Tax demonstrates a real commitment to hiring qualified candidates with disabilities and has extended its support of March of Dimes through the ‘Dollars for Dimes’ fundraiser and we could not be more grateful,” says Mary Lynne Stewart, Director of Fund Development and Communications for March of Dimes Canada.
