Come to the races to support March of Dimes!
On Saturday, August 17th, March of Dimes Canada will be holding a fundraising event at Kawartha Downs racetrack in support of its programs and services for children and adults with disabilities. This is the fifth year the event has been held.
Along with the races, guests will have the opportunity to bid on fabulous prizes in a silent auction. Graham Hart, CHEX TV anchor and a longtime supporter of March of Dimes Canada will be the evening’s host.
Volunteers and representatives from local stroke and post-polio support groups will be on hand to answer questions about their programs.
Peterborough is the fastest growing retirement community in the country, and it’s believed there are many stroke and polio survivors in the area who could benefit from March of Dimes’ programs and services. March of Dimes also offers an aphasia program in Peterborough. Aphasia is a communication disability that can result from a brain injury or stroke. Funds raised from the event will benefit these programs and March of Dimes’ Assistive Devices Program, which helps fund needed mobility equipment like wheelchairs, scooters, rollaters, bathroom safety equipment and more.
The Silent Auction starts at 6pm and the races at 7pm, the Auction will close at 9pm.
Please ask for Sandra Clements at the event.
