Third Annual Lindsay BIA Charity Road Hockey Challenge to raise money for March of Dimes Canada’s programs and services for children and adults with disabilities
On Sunday, May 26th, from 10am – 5pm, part of Kent Street (between Victoria and Cambridge Street) in Lindsay will be transformed into makeshift road hockey rinks in support of the 3rd Annual Lindsay BIA Charity Road Hockey Challenge. The Grand Restaurant will be the event headquarters once again this year and co-owner Charlie MacDonald, has been a huge supporter of this event from the beginning.
Based on an event founded in Toronto by March of Dimes’ Special Events Manager, Linda Yielding, teams fundraise to compete in a friendly road hockey tournament. Each team is guaranteed a minimum of three games. The teams will be comprised of local businesses and corporations.
Team registration is $100. Teams are formed with a minimum of 6 players and maximum of 12 plus a goalie. One female player must play at all times. Players are asked to collect a minimum of $50.00 in pledges.
NEW this year is kids’ teams. Children aged 7 – 12 years-old can put together teams of up to 12 plus a goalie and can register for a fee of $20.00 each.
“I am so excited to be working with the Lindsay BIA and be a part of this event again! It just keeps getting bigger and better –and every dollar raised stays in the community,” says Regional Fundraising Coordinator, Sandra Clements.
