Your Home, Your Independence
From March 15 – 24, 2013 March of Dimes Canada will be hosting booth # 5111 at the National Home Show, taking place at the Direct Energy Centre.
Your home should be your sanctuary. But for many people as they age, or acquire a disability, a house can become an obstacle course that needs to navigated every day, threatening safety and independence. The good news is that with the help of barrier-free design, a home can be modified to once again be a safe haven. Experts from March of Dimes Canada and HME Mobility will be on-hand to demonstrate and discuss that age or disability does not have to mean a life filled with barriers, restrictions and isolation. With help, there is a way to maintain independence in your home.
In addition, our experts will be hosting two presentations that detail how to accommodate the needs of people with disabilities during the development or redesign of a house.
Main Stage Presentations:
Date: Monday, March 18th Time: 2:00pm
Date: Wednesday, March 20th Time: 2:00pm
Home accessibility does not have to mean expensive renovations. Our experts will show that barrier-free design offers simple solutions that allow anybody to live comfortably in their home. March of Dimes will demonstrate that you can remain safe and independent in a home that is both accessible and beautiful.
The booth will feature a fully accessible bathroom, living area, and examples of modular ramps, stair lifts and products that can make your home more barrier-free.
Thank you to the National Home Show, Direct Energy Centre and GES Show Services for their donation of the booth, electricity and booth materials.
