Pennzoil Presents Rock for Dimes Guelph 2013- Guelph’s Big Battle of the Corporate Bands!
Members of Guelph’s corporate community play "Rock Star" to raise money for a great cause.
For the first time, on Friday, May 10, four bands featuring groups comprised of Guelph-area business professionals will shake the Brass Taps Campus Pub at the University of Guelph, 50 Stone Road East.
The bands will compete for bragging rights while at the same time showcasing their talents. Mary Lynne Stewart, Director of Fund Development and Communications for March of Dimes Canada will be the evening’s emcee, while Jerome Chang, Judi Carter, Miki Grosz and Dave Newell will be the judges.
Short Fiction, Metro4, Menace2Sobriety and Corduroy Road will do battle at the event.
The event will benefit Linking Survivors with Survivors (LSWS), a volunteer-driven project connecting new stroke survivors with individuals who have already made successful recoveries from stroke. LSWS provides post-stroke peer support for survivors and caregiver and is designed to help individuals and families as they transition from the hospital setting to recovery at home. Through hospital visits, community involvement and peer support groups, new stroke survivors benefit from mentorship and gain a better understanding of their stroke recovery journey.
Linking Survivors with Survivors is managed by Stroke Recovery Canada®, a program of March of Dimes Canada, with participation from the following Chapters/Associations: Kitchener/Waterloo, North Wellington, Guelph-Wellington, and Cambridge, in partnership with Grand River Hospital Stroke Centre and South Regional Stroke Network. It is funded through the Waterloo-Wellington Local Health Integration Network.
Pennzoil is supporting the Rock for Dimes fundraisers in 2013 to celebrate the collective passion Pennzoil and so many others have for the love of cars and the freedom that people derive from their automobiles.
“Freedom is a sentiment closely associated with the ability to drive an automobile. Yet, this freedom can be taken away if one has disabilities and cannot drive a standard automobile. Pennzoil supports organizations like March of Dimes Canada, which are dedicated to helping people with disabilities regain mobility and freedom,” says Bree Sandlin, Pennzoil Global Brand Manager
Pennzoil is the presenting sponsor. Additional sponsors include the Brass Taps Campus Pub, AMG Medical Supplies, Long & McQuade and media sponsor Magic 106.1.
Doors will open at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 10 at Brass Taps Campus Pub in University of Guelph located at 50 Stone Road East. The event is open to the public. Tickets are $10 per person. For more information or to order tickets online visit www.rockfordimes.ca/guelph or call 416-425-3463 ext. 7380
