On March 28th, eight of London’s best amateur bands will take to the stage at the Best Western Lamplighter Inn Convention Centre to raise an estimated $10,000 for children and adults with physical disabilities at the Pennzoil presents Rock for Dimes London.
Short Fiction, Ugly Step Sisters, Oui B Jamon, Second Pass, The Collins Barrow Hard at Tax, 40 Paces, Accrued Interest and Duty Calls will compete for bragging rights as London’s best corporate band, at the same time showcasing their talents to guest judges. Retired Chief of Police Murray Faulkner, Scene publisher Bret Downe, CTV 2’s Christina Howorun and FM 96 Host Bianca Marcus have been tapped as judges, and Doug Varty will be the evening’s host.
All proceeds benefit March of Dimes Canada’s programs for children and adults with disabilities. The event will follow a Living with a Disability event taking place that afternoon at the Best Western aimed at helping London-area residents living with disabilities to better access local community support.
“We couldn’t be more excited about once again staging Rock for Dimes in London,” says Mary Lynne Stewart, Director of Fund Development and Communications for March of Dimes Canada. “We have a great deal of programming in London, and this event has always been so well-supported by the community, allowing us to grow it every year.”
Pennzoil will be the presenting sponsor for Rock for Dimes fundraisers in 2013 to celebrate the collective passion Pennzoil and so many others have for the love of cars and the freedom that people derive from their automobiles.
“Freedom is a sentiment closely associated with the ability to drive an automobile. Yet, this freedom can be taken away if one has disabilities and cannot drive a standard automobile. Pennzoil supports organizations like March of Dimes Canada, which are dedicated to helping people with disabilities regain mobility and freedom,” says Bree Sandlin, Pennzoil Global Brand Manager.
Rock for Dimes London is presented by Pennzoil, and additional sponsors include Allsource Depot Home Health Supplies, London Police, AMG Medical, CTV, Canoe Financial, Union Gas, Dynamic Funds, Collins Barrow, Labourers Local 1059, FMC Law, Bluestone Properties, and Long & McQuade.
