Local amateur musicians to raise money for a great cause!
On Friday, September 27, six bands will take to the stage at Live Lounge at Sherkston Shores to raise an estimated $5,000 for people living with physical disabilities at the Pennzoil presents Rock for Dimes fundraiser. This is the second event at Live Lounge this year.
Firewater, Red Light Masters, Moyralyn, Phuzz, Jeff Poolton and Julian Paul Band will provide the evening’s entertainment in this friendly concert. Jamie Rankin of Giant FM will be the evening’s host.
All proceeds benefit March of Dimes Canada’s Campers Helping Campers program. Campers Helping Campers is an annual fund raising program that takes place from May-October and involves the generous support of staff, volunteers, campers and members of Camping In Ontario.
Funds raised through Campers Helping Campers are used to support participants in March of Dimes Canada’s Outdoor Recreation Programs. Funds are used to subsidize the costs associated with supporting a person who lives with a disability so they can enjoy a summer camping experience. Costs that are covered include: specialized travel to and from the camp, meals, attendant care, accommodations, supplies and day trips.
“We’re really excited to be holding this fundraiser again at Sherkston Shores, which has been such a supportive location for us – we have held three Rock for Dimes events over the last year, says Mary Lynne Stewart, Director of Fund Development for March of Dimes Canada. “Pennzoil presents Rock for Dimes will help us offer more recreational programming to people with disabilities,” she continues.
Pennzoil is the presenting sponsor for Rock for Dimes fundraisers in 2013 to celebrate the collective passion Pennzoil and so many others have for the love of cars and the freedom that people derive from their automobiles.
“Freedom is a sentiment closely associated with the ability to drive an automobile. Yet, this freedom can be taken away if one has disabilities and cannot drive a standard automobile. Pennzoil supports organizations like March of Dimes Canada, which are dedicated to helping people with disabilities regain mobility and freedom,” says Bree Sandlin, Pennzoil Global Brand Manager
Pennzoil is the presenting sponsor. Additional sponsors include Airgo Mobility, Long & McQuade, Sherkston Shores, Reverb Nation and media sponsor Giant FM.
Doors will open at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 27 at Live Lounge, located at Sherkston Shores, 490 Empire Road. The event is open to the public. Tickets are $10 per person. For more information or to order tickets online visit www.rockfordimes.ca/sherkstonshores or call 1-800-263-3463 ext. 7380.
