Pennzoil Presents Rock for Dimes Toronto 2013 - Toronto’s Big Battle of the Corporate Bands!
Members of Toronto’s corporate community play "Rock Star" to raise money for a great cause.
On Friday, May 3rd, six bands featuring groups comprised of Toronto business professionals will shake Club 279 at the Hard Rock Cafe to raise an estimated $25,000 for children with physical disabilities for the ninth straight year.
The bands will compete for bragging rights while at same time showcasing their talents to music industry professionals. Maie Pauts from boom 97.3 is the evening’s emcee, while Daryn Barry, co-owner of the Orange Lounge, Tyler Stewart of the Barenaked Ladies, Jeremy Taggart of Our Lady Peace, and producer, musician and artist rep Andy Curran will round out the evening’s judges panel. Justin Hines (www.justinhines.com) will provide the pre-show entertainment.
Oui B. Jamon, The Grinn, Bora North, Dark Horse, The Shroud of Gaia and Superfire will do battle at the event.
All proceeds benefit March of Dimes Canada’s Conductive Education® (CE) program and will support the Academy of Conductive Education (ACE), an early intervention program for young children living with neuro-motor disabilities. CE is an innovative program that blends elements of education and rehabilitation to improve the independence, mobility and confidence of children with disabilities, and has been especially beneficial to kids with cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis and developmental apraxia.
"Our Conductive Education program is one of the largest of its kind in the world and we serve hundreds of children and adults. We are so pleased this event benefits our ACE program," says Mary Lynne Stewart, Director of Fund Development and Communications.
Pennzoil is the presenting sponsor for Rock for Dimes fundraisers in 2013 to celebrate the collective passion Pennzoil and so many others have for the love of cars and the freedom that people derive from their automobiles.
“Freedom is a sentiment closely associated with the ability to drive an automobile. Yet, this freedom can be taken away if one has disabilities and cannot drive a standard automobile. Pennzoil supports organizations like March of Dimes Canada, which are dedicated to helping people with disabilities regain mobility and freedom,” says Bree Sandlin, Pennzoil Global Brand Manager.
Pennzoil is the presenting sponsor. Additional sponsors include Dentons, AMG Medical Supplies, Long & McQuade, Dave Gillespie Photography, Hard Rock Café and media sponsor Boom 97.3.
Doors will open at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 3 at Club 279 in the Hard Rock Cafe located at 279 Yonge St. The event is open to the public. Tickets are $10 per person. For more information or to order tickets online visit www.rockfordimes.ca/toronto or call 416-425-3463 ext. 7380.
