Local amateur musicians to raise money for a great cause!
On Thursday, May 30, seven bands will take to the stage at Level 3 Vodka Emporium to raise an estimated $10,000 for children with physical disabilities at the Pennzoil presents Rock for Dimes battle of the bands fundraiser.
Dan Reed, OVERDRIVE 145, The Rocky Road, Pauly Fagan and The Apostles, Bloody Munroe, Grumpy Monkeys and Intra Meridian will do battle at the event in front of judges, radio host Darren Eve and musicians Joe O’Neill and Neil St. John. Mark McKenzie of radio sponsor 89X will be the evening’s emcee.
Pennzoil is the presenting sponsor for Rock for Dimes fundraisers in 2013 to celebrate the collective passion Pennzoil and so many others have for the love of cars and the freedom that people derive from their automobiles.
“Freedom is a sentiment closely associated with the ability to drive an automobile. Yet, this freedom can be taken away if one has disabilities and cannot drive a standard automobile. Pennzoil supports organizations like March of Dimes Canada, which are dedicated to helping people with disabilities regain mobility and freedom,” says Bree Sandlin, Pennzoil Global Brand Manager
All proceeds benefit March of Dimes Canada’s Conductive Education® (CE) program and specifically the Academy of Conductive Education. CE is an innovative program that blends elements of education and rehabilitation to improve the independence, mobility and confidence of children with disabilities, and has been especially beneficial to children with cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis and developmental apraxia.
"Our Conductive Education program is one of the largest of its kind in the world and we serve hundreds of children and adults. Our program helps children build self-confidence and self-esteem," says Mary Lynne Stewart, Director of Fund Development and Communications.
“We’re really excited to be holding this fundraiser, which also takes place in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, London, Montreal and Halifax. Rock for Dimes will help us continue to offer the program to children both in Detroit, Michigan and the Windsor area,” she continues.
Pennzoil is the presenting sponsor. Additional sponsors include AMG Medical Supplies, Long & McQuade, Level 3 Vodka Emporium, Eyes on Windsor, Reverb Nation and media sponsor 89X.
Doors will open at 7:00pm on Thursday, May 30 at Level 3 Vodka Emporium located at 375 Ouellette Avenue. The event is open to the public. Tickets are $15 per person. For more information or to order tickets online visitwww.rockfordimes.ca/windsor or call 416-425-3463 ext. 7380.
