Rock for Dimes Windsor
Local amateur musicians to raise money for a great cause.
On Friday, May 2, 2014, six acts will take to the stage at Dominion House to raise an estimated $10,000 for children with physical disabilities at the Rock for Dimes battle of the bands fundraiser. This is the third year the event has been held in Windsor.
Among Titans, 24 Sussex, BorderCity 5 and the Justin Zuccatto Band will do battle at the event in front of judges, local musician and filmmaker Jon Gillies, Caesar’s Windsor Entertainment Director Tim Trombley, and Jeff Burrows of Tea Party Band. Mark McKenzie of 89X will be the evening’s emcee. Dan Reed and Red Legacy Band are the special guest performers.
The competition this year will be even stronger, as the winning band will be invited to perform at Windsor's Fork and Cork Festival in July, attended by over 20,000 people!
All proceeds benefit March of Dimes Canada’s programs for children and adults with disabilities. The event will follow an Opening Doors for Accessibility event taking place that afternoon at the Royal Marquis Retirement Home aimed at helping Windsor-area residents living with disabilities to better access local community supports.
"We’re very excited to be holding this event again in Windsor," says Mary Lynne Stewart, Director of Fund Development and Communications. “It keeps growing each year, and we know this year will be our biggest success yet!”
Rock for Dimes is part of a series of fundraisers held across Canada. Since its inception in 2005, the event has raised over $1.1million.
Sponsors include Airgo, Long & McQuade, Dominion House, Eyes on Windsor, League of Rock, Caesar’s Windsor, Bios Living, and Agency 59.
Doors will open at 7:00pm on Friday, May 2 at Dominion House, located at 3140 Sandwich Street. The event is open to the public. Tickets are $15 per person. For more information or to order tickets online visitwww.rockfordimes.ca/windsor or call 416-425-3463 ext. 7380.
