ROCKING FOR DIMES IN WINNIPEG!
Annual battle of the bands raises money for local March of Dimes Canada programs
For Immediate Release – March 8, 2016 – If you weren’t at the West End Cultural Centre on Saturday, you missed the musical showdown of the year.
Three local artists – The Healthy Strokes, Johnny Ravin, and Frostbite - demonstrated their musical chops to a packed house, and a panel of celebrity judges, supporting March of Dimes Canada while they did.
The difficult task of choosing a winner fell to Karly Troschuk (KISS 102.3), Katy Jacobs (Accessible Music Therapy), Ismaila Alfa (Up To Speed, CBC), Al Shell (President, Shell Financial Services), and Broose Tulloch (101.5 UMFM).
It was tough but, in the end, The Healthy Strokes edged out the competition.
Altogether, the event raised over $7000, all of which will benefit MODC programs for children and adults with disabilities. The money will support March of Dimes Canada’s Stroke Recovery Canada® program .
‘Winnipeg is a young event, so it’s very exciting to see it develop,’ said Mary Lynne Stewart, National Director of Fund Development and Communications for MODC. ‘This is a great city, and the people are very generous, which is why we can keep on supporting Manitobans with disabilities.’
‘I’d like to thank Winnipegers for being so enthusiastic,’ Stewart continued. ‘The money you raised is going to make a big difference to a lot of people right here in Manitoba.’
Our very generous sponsors are: Long & McQuade, Airgo Medical, Vantage Mobility, Agency59, 92 CITI FM, Winnipeg Free Press and Stroke Recovery Association of Manitoba .
