4th annual OpportuniTEA with Kate Linder and Friends raises $31,000 for March of Dimes Canada!
For Immediate Release – On April 2, March of Dimes Canada celebrated the fourth annual OpportuniTEA with Kate Linder and Friends in Calgary.
Hosted by Kate Linder, who plays Esther Valentine on The Young and the Restless, the fundraiser includes an elegant high tea plus all the juicy drama of a daytime soap, while supporting March of Dimes Canada’s Conductive Education Program.
Conductive Education combines theory and rehabilitation for kids and adults with neuro-motor disorders like cerebral palsy, Parkinsons disease, and multiple sclerosis. The goal is to help participants improve physical independence in their daily lives, focusing on building from single steps to more complex tasks, and using problem solving techniques along with group reinforcement.
‘I’ve personally seen how Conductive Education changes lives,’ says Linder, who serves as the program’s National Spokesperson. ‘It’s amazing and inspiring. That’s why I work with March of Dimes Canada, and why I do these events – I know that the money we raise is going to help a lot of people.’
This year’s OpportuniTEA featured Linder and Y&R co-stars Christian LeBlanc, Tracey Bregman, Bryton James, and Elizabeth Hendrickson, and was emceed by Global Calgary news anchor Linda Olsen. Guests were treated to a Q+A session, bid on exclusive auction items, and get autographs and pictures with the soap stars.
Altogether, Calgary’s fourth annual OpportuniTEA raised $31,000 for Conductive Education.
‘Kate has been a wonderful advocate for Conductive Education,’ says March of Dimes Canada’s President and CEO Andria Spindel. ‘She knows that the money she helps us raise will have a lasting impact on our consumers, and she makes each event special.’
This year’s tea was generously sponsored by: Alaska Airlines, Global Calgary, The Calgary Sun, The Westin Calgary, Double Zero, National Fine Food, Beers, and Spirits, PSAV, Ambassador Limousines, Cinderwood Photography, and Babor Beauty Spa and Hair by Maria Serpico
