FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
2018 was the best year yet for March of Dimes Canada’s Walk ‘n’ Roll
These annual events see participants from our stroke recovery groups and Aphasia and Communication Disabilities Program get out and complete a designated course in their community. It’s a great way for them to have fun, get active, and raise money for their programs.
Our stroke recovery groups held thirteen events across Ontario, raising just over $41,000 dollars.
Out in BC, thirteen groups participated at twelve different sites, which is a remarkable increase from the three groups who came out last year. Eighty-four participants raised a total of $19,644. Combined with the funds from Ontario, that comes to an impressive $60,644!
Our Aphasia and Communication Disabilities Program got in on the action with six program sites raising nearly $27,500 -- almost $10,000 more than last year.
That means our stroke recovery groups and ACDP folks raised a combined $88,144!
“Our participants work hard in their programs, and then they work hard to support their programs,” says Donna Mackay, Associate Director Community Engagement and Integration Services with March of Dimes Canada. “The funds they raise make sure we can continue to help other people living with disabilities.”
