On March 5, 2015, John Carmichael, Member of Parliament for Don Valley West, on behalf of the Honorable Candice Bergen, Minister of State for Social Development, joined Andria Spindel, President and CEO of March of Dimes Canada and March of Dimes Canada staff to announce Opportunities Fund for Persons with Disabilities, a $1.4 million dollar grant provided by the Government of Canada for the provision of employment services to people with disabilities.
March of Dimes Canada has been a proud and effective provider of Employment Services through the Service Canada Opportunities Fund since 2008. This grant will go towards the Community Coordinator Project to:
- Assist persons with disabilities to achieve sustainable employment appropriate to their education, skill set, work experience and interests;
- Assist individuals to target their job search within their community;
- Provide real work experience to enhance their on-the-job skills; and
- Provide a wage subsidy to employers.
