March of Dimes Canada is pleased to announce the appointment of Leonard Baker
as the new President and CEO, effective October 29, 2018. Leonard has been part of CNIB and the broader disability community for more than 25 years, rising through the ranks of direct service and regional management to become a core member of their national leadership team. During this time, he made a vital impact in changing what it is to be blind – expanding the quality and scope of the services delivered, driving the integration of vision loss rehabilitation, and establishing key partnerships across a range of sectors, among many other achievements.
Like March of Dimes Canada, CNIB has been through a period of rapid growth. Leonard describes himself as a “strong believer in the importance of capacity building. The opportunity for all leaders is to build a consumer-centred, dynamic organization with a skilled and committed team that can anticipate and respond to the needs of today, and is properly prepared to meet the challenges of the future.”
While serving as a Regional Vice President in Atlantic Canada and most recently in Ontario and Quebec, Leonard worked with Divisional boards to build effective, evidence-based operational plans to drive ambition and successfully garner the support of government and the community. His most recent position as a member of the CNIB national leadership team was Vice President, Strategic Partnerships and Innovation where he oversaw key federal government relationship, research and the development and deployment of many new technology partnerships.
He believes that the work of the organization must remain rooted in the needs of those we serve by engaging consumers in our mission, championing innovation and an entrepreneurial spirit and maximizing the strength of partnerships to broaden our impact.
We are proud to have Leonard Baker join the March of Dimes Canada family.
