MODC Rock for Dimes

Toronto rocks to raise money for March of Dimes Canada!

For immediate release: Five amateur bands hit the stage at Toronto’s Mod Club Theatre to raise money for March of Dimes Canada’s After Stroke program.

Bit o’ Brit, Freshwater Sharks, Martha Rocks, Oui B. Jamon, and Envy and the Cants competed before a panel of industry experts. They were all fantastic, but Freshwater Sharks beat out the competition to win the title of Toronto’s best.

Thanks to David Barrett, Tommy Mac, Andy Curran, and John McMillan for making that tough decision, and to Maie Pauts, from Boom 97.3, for hosting.

All in all, the event raised over $20,000 for programs and services that support stroke survivors and caregivers.

After Stroke provides support from the hospital to home, and from home back into the community. The focus is on helping survivors and caregivers embrace a new normal as they navigate the potential physical, emotional, cognitive, communicative, and social impacts of a stroke.

“More than 400,000 Canadians live with the effects of a stroke,” says Mary Lynne Stewart, “and many of them don’t know where to go after they leave the hospital. There’s so much more to recovery than that – it’s a journey for the survivor and the caregiver. That’s where After Stroke comes in.”

Our very generous sponsors for RFD Toronto 2019 are: Dentons Canada, MedAvail Technologies Inc, The Mod Club, Entuitive, Local 27 of the Carpenter’s Union, NOW Magazine, AMG Medical, Candela, Hill Street Beverage Co, Long & McQuade, Proactive, and BOOM 97.3.
