Sheila Shah, an up and coming actress based out of Los Angeles, has joined the March of Dimes family as our newest Ambassador. Sheila grew up in Montreal, and relocated to Toronto when she was 13 years old. She is trilingual, speaking French, Farsi and English fluently. Her passion for the arts and modeIling began early, and in 2001, she won the title of Miss Iran Canada.
As a fallback career, Sheila worked as a chemist and in regulatory affairs in the pharmaceutical industry. However, in 2007, she made the decision to move to Los Angles and pursue acting full time.
Since then she has appeared in a number of television & film productions, and print commercials, including CBS's How to Be a Gentleman, and horror film Saw V. She recently completed filming a lead role in an action/thriller movie starring Ving Rhames.
Sheila has twin brothers, one of whom has cerebral palsy. Her family has been helped by March of Dimes, including receiving support from both the Home and Vehicle, and Assistive Devices Programs.
"I know what it is like to grow up with disability in the family, how expensive equipment can be, and how you want to do everything you can to ensure your family member has the best possible care," says Sheila. "I want to support March of Dimes and help other families like mine. This organization has always been near and dear to my heart, and I’m looking forward to helping however I can."
