Adult Residential Services in Winnipeg 


March of Dimes Canada offers three types of service models for adults living with disabilities in Winnipeg:  

Congregate Living involves sharing living space with up to two roommates. You get your own bedroom and share the living/dining space and kitchen. 

Integrated Apartment Models are designated apartment buildings with 24-hour onsite access to scheduled and unscheduled service. You live in your own apartment and we visit you as required.  

Outreach Services include planned service delivery in your own home. 

Who is eligible? 


Our clients come to us with a variety of diagnoses, including: 
  • Acquired brain injury 
  • Stroke 
  • Mental health challenges (ie. schizophrenia, depression, PTSD, and anxiety)  
  • Physical disability 
  • Autism 
  • Fetal alcohol syndrome 
  • Intellectual disabilities 
  • Medically complex and concurrent disorders 

Program Details 

We work with you to set goals and develop a plan. Our goal is to support you so you can live as independently as possible and be an active part of your community. You’ll be supported by a team of healthcare professionals who can meet your unique needs, from life skills and rehabilitation to improving daily independence. It’s all about where you are and where you want to go.  

Your goals might focus on daily tasks like:  
  • Managing a budget, planning meals, and grocery shopping 
  • Using public transit 
  • Following recommendations from regulated healthcare professionals (eg. managing medication, attending appointments) 
Or useful strategies like: 
  • Planning and organizing 
  • Problem-solving  
  • Managing emotions 
  • Communicating effectively 
  • Social skills 
  • Creating daily and weekly structure to support all of the above 

Your Support Team 

A support team will be designed to meet your specific needs. It includes a March of Dimes Canada rehabilitation or support worker as well as some of the following: 
  • Psychologists 
  • Physiotherapists 
  • Occupational therapists 
  • Speech language pathologists 
  • Social workers 
  • Recreational therapists 
The focus will always be on you and your goals.
