Motion sponsors After Stroke programs across Canada coinciding with World Stroke Day (October 29)

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Stroke survivors everywhere, whose experience will be recognized on World Stroke Day on October 29, will have better access to the support they need thanks to an exciting new partnership between March of Dimes Canada’s After Stroke program and Motion (formerly Motion Specialties) – Canada’s largest provider of mobility and home accessibility products, including wheelchairs, stairlifts, walkers, mobility scooters, bathroom safety items, and more.

After Stroke is a personalized recovery program that helps survivors and their families move forward after a stroke.  After Stroke works one-on-one with stroke survivors and their families in the communities where they live, connecting them with an individualized recovery plan, local resources, and a network of support to help navigate the journey ahead. Support is available from those first days in the hospital through every stage of recovery and life after stroke.

“Stroke survivors have told us they need support,” says Christina Sperling, Director of Community Programs & After Stroke at March of Dimes Canada. “They need tools, peer support, opportunities for skills development and exercise, and information to address the emotional and practical challenges of their unique journey. This partnership with Motion will combine our strengths and expertise to benefit stroke survivors and their families across the country.”

Motion will make a significant financial contribution to After Stroke over the next year. They’ll also be part of delivering educational events to people impacted by stroke and participate in community-based fundraisers in support of the After Stroke program.

“It is Motion’s vision to make life accessible for everyone,” shared Jeff Preston, Sr. Director, Brand & Product. “As a long-time partner of March of Dimes, we feel this sponsorship is a critical opportunity to make a direct impact on the quality of life of stroke survivors and their families.”

“Partnerships like this are crucial to growing our programs and services and reaching more stroke survivors so they can optimize their recovery,’ adds Sperling. “Nobody should have to navigate life after stroke alone.”
